I love the Berklee Indian Ensemble's version of A.R. Rahman's "Jiya Jale" so much that I am now fluent in Hindi. Ok, I'm exaggerating, sorta 😂, tho I have gotten to the point where I can confidently sing along as soloists Ishita Sinha, Harshitha Krishnan, Nalini Krishnan and Rohith Santosh Jayaraman warble and croon.
The instrumental arrangement, slanted slightly more towards a jazzy organic sound than its original Bollywood take feels so right in my ears - I can safely say that I've never enjoyed a Bollywood track as much as this version.
The Berklee Indian Ensemble, founded in 2011 by Annette Philip seeks to educate themselves and their audiences. Their next big show is on December 7th @ The Berklee Performance Center. Contribute to the vision by emailing: indiaexchange@berklee.edu.
You'll see... take a trip to India with me.

Yann Tiersen's Porz Goret + a Cricket Serenade ❤️
Yann Tiersen has a way of pulling at my heart's very sensitive strings. "Porz Goret" off his 2016 album EUSA is absolutely no exception... goes well with the cricket serenade in progress on my back porch 🌙.
Listen with me.

This is what "The Show Must Go On" looks like.
When prodigious Brazilian pianist and lecturer, Eliane Rodrigues, performs at De Doelen in Rotterdam, one of her piano pedals malfunctions. Despite the potential for embarrassment, Ms. Rodrigues handles this hiccup with grace, courtesy, humor, kindness and self confidence of angelic proportions. The definition of a seasoned performer, musician par excellence and, well, a darn good person, Eliane Rodrigues is, my hero.

White Ghost Shivers "Mama Said"
The White Ghost Shivers from the proudly weird city of Austin TX describe their sound so perfectly.
Here's the story..."Imagine a smorgasbord of Cab Calloway, circus sideshow, KISS, cabaret, Hee Haw and Robert Johnson served up at Andy Kaufman's bar-mitzvah. A joyous mixture of the absurd and sublime, the five-piece ensemble gracefully blends a musical amalgam of Hokum Blues, Hillbilly Swing, Country and Hot Jazz."
Well I'm in, yes please, yee haw.
