There's a story, published in 1824, called "The Devil and Tom Walker" by Washington Irving. It's about a miserly man named (you guessed it) Tom Walker and his wife who do shady dealings with (right again) the devil.
There's also a singer, born in Scotland and raised in Manchester, named Tom Walker. Juxtaposed with the devil's chump, this Tom Walker seems to choose the sunny side. His warm gingery hair and matching beard fit the hug in his smile and richnesss of his voice. He sings songs about love, life, hurt and triumph. And he makes creatively compassionate videos, like the one below 👇🏼, about a homeless man who struggles and succeeds at finding a way to smile through the pain.
Obviously, this Tom isn't mates with "Old Scratch". He's a cuddly Mancunian with a stunning voice who's career is picking up speed, as well it should.
Take a listen, and if you have some time, do a little research (links below). My name is Skip to this.... and I support (this) Tom Walker.
