This pic says it all... Ms. Martina sits peacefully as the world around her moves unpredictably. it reminds me of how it feels to listen to this smooth trip hopper singing amongst the sometimes downright yet intentional cacophony of the musical collectives she's been known to sing with.
Martina Topley-Bird was discovered by Tricky one day as she perched atop a wall near his home... warbling to herself... Talk about floating to a freshly baked pie on the window sill... ! That was a good day that led to Topley-Bird's talent being prominently woven in and out of Tricky's genre creating sound. Her voice can also be recognized in Massive Attack's jazzy/trippy veil.
Baby Blue, off her 2008 album called The Blue God, is a fun, smokey and dowoppy number. Makes me wanna swing my head side to side while wearing go-go boots and casually smoking a cigarette (come to think of it... I did this many times today - minus the smoke 😂). I just love it and, you will too!
