I have this sweet spot in my heart for the oompa-oompa-oompa of punk rock music. Sometimes (not always) it's the genre I use to self medicate off an overdose of melonchlia... as I am occasionally want to "let it ALL in". The upbeat and constant rhythm keeps me moving and doesn't let me ... sink.
And while "Survive" by Hungarian "every genre band" The Moog has all the positive qualities of my fave melancholia elixir, it has something unique to add: really strong, pick up and dust off, tough lovin', "oh just snap out of it", philosophical lyrics.
And I'm like YAAAAAA. And repeat.
Cuz, someone needs to remind us all that "If you blame your failures on some other guys, I cannot tell you how to survive" oompa-oompa-oompa "everything just goes by if you don't pay attention now (la la la la)."
I mean, 🤘🏼.
Check out their latest album The Moog ('16) - it continues to prove that these Indie Rock Renaissance musicians cannot be confined to just one genre. They do it all, and well.
