Granted, it's not the typical love song... but that's what makes Depeche Mode's One Caress so wonderful. Dark, pleading, delicate, vulnerable.... divine.
In my (humble) opinion, if you want to sweep someone off their feet, Say Anything style, stand outside their bedroom window with a boom box over your head and blast One Caress. It will be your most successful gambit. Full Stop. (Oh, and put it on a mix tape too... you'll get the girl/boy/person.)
BUT, for some reason, the powers that be decided to shroud it in myth and mystery. By making One Caress the B-Side to I Feel You, (off DM's '93 offering Songs of Faith and Devotion) and releasing it as a "promo only" single, One Caress was born elusive. Like... I'm all for hidden gems but a song like this should be celebrated.
So, without further ado, here's DM's Martin Gore, swooning for you on this throwback Thursday.
