Something magical happens when a Papa and his baby share a swoon. In my lifetime, my Pop and I share the love of listening to music... we are the most enthusiastic and involved of spectators. It's even more magical when Pop and princess step into the ring and actually PLAY together, to create their own swoon.
So when I received a message from Catalonian Indie folkster Maurice Gene the other day, that he'd been inspired by my recent feature of Johnny Cash covering Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" I was like " π€πΌ". When he told me that he'd be recording this cover with his 2 year old folkster baby Emma, I was like "π€πΌπ€πΌβ€οΈ!". And maaaaan, there is sweetness dripping from each minute. Its delish.
Watch and delight ππΌ.Β
Obviously, now that Maurice, Emma and I are besties, I had to see what Maurice Gene's music was all about. It only took a sec for me to dig up this beauty ππΌ.Β
There's no doubt that Maurice has his own, well cultivated style and I hate comparing artists but, I'm about to do it anyway. If you like the rustic, heartfelt storytelling of a harmonica playing Neil Young... you'll fall for the warm and honest journey of Maurice Gene. He adds a beautiful hint of the blues to this concoction that brings it all together in the most satisfying way.
