People are complex and I am no different. In order to satisfy my many drives, I work a lot of different jobs. Three of which, kindergarten teacher, writer and music blogger found each other at a comfortable and natural crossroads yesterday. And it all made perfect sense...
I take great pride, especially at this stage of the school year, in watching my students (5 year old kindergarteners) express themselves with ease through writing. I'm sure many kindergarten teachers are experiencing this very same pride. Our fledglings are stretching their wings and taking pleasure in solo (supervised) flight. It's remarkable... magical even.
Yesterday, during our journaling time, my students were a flutter with sounds, words, crayons and pencils as they made their ideas come alive on paper. As usual, we were listening to an assortment of classical music. All was flowing until 2Cellos version of Benedictus came on.
One of my kiddos stopped mid word and looked up at the ceiling. I watched with excitement as her eyes closed and that sweet smile spread across her face as she said "oooooh this is my favorite songggggg!" It was her first Swoon! And then, the entire class followed suit. So, there we were, bathed in some of March's first sunlight, a teacher, writer, music lover and her students swooning together to this beauty.
I know I've shared this before but ... my blog, my rules. This piece won my kids first swoon so, it must be documented as such. A swooning winner.
