Hozier's cover of “Sweet Thing”

Not much is sweeter than Hozier’s cover of “Sweet Thing” by blue eyed soul’s King and lyrical sorcerer, Van Morrison. That is, aside from these magnificent lyrics. I’m leaving them here, for the curiously searching eyes and whistful hearts of my fellow dreamers and feeling feelers.  They’ll hold you tight.

My favorite is the second verse:

“Oh sweet thing, sweet thing
My, my, my, my, my sweet thing
And I shall drive my chariot
Down your streets and cry
Hey, it's me, I'm dynamite
And I don't know why'
And you shall take me strongly
In your arms again
And I will not remember
That I even felt the pain.
We shall walk and talk
In gardens all misty and wet with rain
And I will never, never, never

Grow so old again.”

Hozier’s rich n’booming vocal resonance fills what could be the empty spaces left by the rhythm section of “Sweet Thing”’s original incantation. A perfect display of what Naked Noise means in my mind.  A true display of the purest talent that needs not hide behind the enhancements of... anything. Standing before you, naked, sweetly vulnerable yet powerful and proud.
